Tiger
SlackhouseDescription
Tiger is a high-tech, lightweight webbing for the biggest projects. Made entirely of UHMWPE fibers it wights just around 30 g/m.
Its low stretch of 2.8% (at 10 kN) ensures effective tensioning of the longest projects. At the same time the 2% stretch at 5 kN, makes it pleasant to walk on even “shorter” (~200 m) lines.
The width reduced to 21,5 mm decreases wind catching while increasing thickness and reducing sharpness of the edges.
Depending on whether you want to see the line more or look good, you can choose between two color versions: orange or black.
Apart from large projects, Tiger is a great choice as the backup for your freestyle set!
ORDER PARAMETERS
Tiger webbing is available in 50 m or 100 m splits. When choosing the total length, e.g. 400 m, you order the corresponding number of segments of the selected length, i.e. 8 x 50 m or 4 x 100 m.
If you choose 100 m segments with backup, by default we stitch both lines together (M2B) in the middle of their lengths (let us know if you don’t want that service).
The backup length is 52.5 m for 50 m segments and 105 m for 100 m segments, respectively.
Each split of the Tiger webbing has a single sewn loops on both ends. We stitch new type of the end loops with an integrated soft-thimble inside the protective sleeve – adapted for use with soft shackles or quick-links. This however makes them incompatible with a regular shackles.
The end loop size is reduced to minimum to reduce weight. The new type of stitching provides maximum strength.
The stitching you receive on your line may differ from the one in the photo – we are still working on improving it.
SAFETY
Tiger webbing is not compatible with a standard weblocks and can only be attached using the original sewn loops. Using standard weblocks requires double wrapping, but does not provide full strength and may result in deformation of the device. If you must use another anchor, we recommend using the Petram Simplex (or other similar line-lockers) and double wrapping the line (yet it does reduce the webbing strength).
Remember that UHMWPE webbing cannot be tensioned using typical webbing grips (e.g. Petram Cito) because it is too slippery. The only option is to connect the Tiger with another line that works with such devices and only then tension with it.
Despite the very good abrasion resistance of the UHMWPE fibers keep in mind its relatively low melting temperature (140-150 °C), which means the excessive friction may damage it much sooner than webbings made of other materials (polyester or nylon).
If you plan to use Tiger as your mainline, due to its low stretch we recommend it for projects of at least 150 m in length.
The maximum lifespan of the Tiger is 5 years regardless of how it was used. The real lifespan depends heavily on how the webbing is used and in what conditions. Significant discoloration may indicate its excessive weakening. We do not recommend using Tiger as the mainline for permanent rigs.
